Afterwards, the students started working on line and design related artwork. Preschool students did a beautiful clay and pipe cleaner project that looks fabulous by the window sills. They also did leaf rubbings, scratch art practice, and beautiful shaving cream art! Kindergarten has been working on a "line rug" which has the colors of the rainbow with different types of lines cut in as a design. First grade worked on "Birds and Rockets" with all kinds of lines flying from the objects. Second grade did their fun "Crazy Hair" project and as a bonus, worked on leaves made from glue. 3rd grade is finishing up "Line in Motion" where they created a design that was then cut out to look like moving lines. Fourth grade created 3D hands using the illusion of line to make the hand look like it's coming out of the page. Fifth grade is finishing up their design pinwheels. Sixth grade is finishing up their design cubes, and seventh and eighth grade are working on paper quiling projects.
For Halloween, grades that have finished early got a chance to work on paper plate masks for the holiday! Their next projects will start to incorporate basic color theory with more design elements.
