This is the second year that St. Mary’s Prep has participated in the New York Jets Stomp Out Bullying program. This year the Jets are leading a unique school initiative called “Jets Upstsander of the Week.” The Jets have asked participating schools to select a student each week who demonstrates upstanding qualities. Each week, for the 16 weeks of the season, one student is chosen to receive three tickets to a home game, a parking pass, bumper sticker and a T-shirt.
These students have been nominated by their teachers as a role model and a person who demonstrates the qualities and values that each of us can make a positive difference.
For more information on the program please visit http://stompoutbullying.org/ or ask Mrs. Kadin.
The TK class enjoyed celebrating Dot Day activities. The day started by wearing dots to school and listening to the inspirational book The Dot by Peter Reynolds. The class made their mark by dotting with paint the letters of their names and making Dot Collages of paint. Blowing bubbles outside on a beautiful day was the highlight of the experience.
In 6th Grade Bronze Math, students worked on place value and word names, comparing and ordering decimals, and arithmetic and algebraic expressions. Students spent time up at the SmartBoard demonstrating and then spent time in small groups practicing using interactive centers.
The Transitional Kindergarten is ready to begin a new school year at St. Mary's Prep with a fun filled learning curriculum. " The Extra Year to Grow Program " is based with hands on activities in learning centers that combine Preschool and Kindergarten Readiness Skills in reading, writing, math, science, religion and art.
