St. Mary’s Prep is a full-circle learning environment whose mission is to support, motivate, and prepare students spiritually, academically, and socially. St. Mary’s Prep is a school of excellence with a strong focus on academic rigor and Catholic identity. Our school is a strong, spiritually-centered community who lives our faith through service and worship. We inspire our students to be leaders in the world, making a positive difference in the lives of others.
St. Mary’s Prep offers academic programs for students in Pre-K3 through Eighth Grade. Our curriculum meets and exceeds all NJ State Curriculum Standards and is infused not only with a strong foundation of Catholic values but incorporates technology in all facets of learning. St. Mary’s Prep is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) school. STEM focuses on utilizing an inquiry-based style of education. St. Mary’s Prep has a 3-D printer that allows students to print objects that they design. Each academic classroom has a SMARTboard/interactive whiteboard, a computer lab, Chromebooks, all used in middle school classrooms; iPads are used in the primary grades. We offer a world language program. Two certified Spanish teachers are on staff, teaching students in Grades Pre-K-Grade 4 and Grades 5-8.
SMP offers a Transitional Kindergarten, which is a full-time specialized program of study, offered to children who miss the October 1 cut-off date for Kindergarten or for children who might need just one more year to grow, be it academically, physically, or socially.
Our facilities include an outdoor playground, a gym/auditorium with a full stage, and a separate cafeteria.
St. Mary’s Prep has also fostered a wide variety of activities that help our children express their creativity, pursue new interests, gain leadership skills, and achieve social growth, such as student government/Beta Club, environmental club, marketing club, yearbook, choir, competitive athletic programs, cheerleading, drama, golf, dance, Irish dance, and liturgical and prayer services.
The school’s membership with the National Catholic Education Association provides continuing programs of professional development. St. Mary’s Prep is accredited by AdvancED.
January 28 begins Catholic Schools Week, which is a week in which we celebrate the value of Catholic education. We focus on “Catholic schools as a community to learn, serve, read, and succeed and on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities, and our nation. We encourage you to attend one of our two open houses the week of January 28 to see all that St. Mary’s Prep has to offer your family. Tours will be given by our Student Ambassadors and parents. They are scheduled for Sunday, January 28, 9:00-1:00 p.m. and Wednesday evening, January 31, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Each day during Catholic Schools Week we have special activities honoring our school community, family, parish, faculty/staff, and our nation.
