Cash Card Program
ST. MARY’S PREP CASH CARD PROGRAM Grades TK - 8
Welcome to St. Mary’s Prep Cash Card Program –
One of our most successful Home and School Association fundraisers!
1. WHAT IS. IT? Basically, it is purchasing gift cards (aka cash cards), all in one place, at no extra cost to you and the school receives a profit back from the gift card vendor. For example, a $100.00 Shop Rite card is worth $100.00 – there are no hidden fees or service charges. We have found this is the easiest way we have to raise funds for our school. All you have to do is shop, something that we all do already on a regular basis.
2. IT’s REQUIRED. Each St. Mary’s Prep family (TK – 8th) is required to generate a minimum of $300.00 in profit for the school. This does not mean you are only required to purchase $300.00 worth of cash cards. You are required to purchase enough cash cards so that the total reimbursement (profit) to St. Mary’s Prep from the cash cards is a minimum of $300.00. Example: The reimbursement percentage on a Shop Rite card is 5%. That means for a $100.00 cash card, St. Mary’s Prep receives 5% of that total ($100), or $5.00. All those 5%, 10%, 2%, etc. totals must equal the $300.00 minimum profit for St. Mary’s Prep. The amount of the reimbursement percentages vary by vendor. Any profit earned above the mandatory profit required will go towards our “special projects” campaign, which varies each school year. The special projects campaign for this school year is technology advancements. NOTE: Profit is accrued from July 1, 2018 through May 31, 2019. Payment will be due for any outstanding mandatory profit balance in installments as follows: $150 in profit must be met by December 31, 2018. If $150 in profit is not met, the difference must be paid by January 15, 2019. $75 in profit must be met by April 1, 2019. If $75 in profit is not met, the difference must be paid by April 15, 2019. The final $75 in profit must be met by May 31, 2019. If the final $75 in profit is not met, the difference must be paid by June 14, 2019. 3. IT’s CONVENIENT. You can purchase cash cards at school or after each Mass on the weekends. You can pre-order online (smpcashcards@gmail.com) and pick up your cards or have them sent home. We have an extensive list of vendors, covering groceries, clothing, gasoline, home improvement, and entertainment (restaurants, movies, hotels). We are adding local merchants as we go (e.g., Anthony & Sons, SmartWorld, Sergio’s...). Every cash card purchase you make is tracked and applied to your total. You will be notified a few times during the school year of your status, in relation to the $300.00 goal. When you are buying cash cards at Mass, make sure you identify yourself as a St. Mary’s Prep family. You can have other non-SMP family members or friends purchase cards in your name. 4. KID MAIL: Is a system we use to receive and deliver cash card orders via our children when you are unable to come into school to purchase/pick-up cards directly. While we recognize that it is not always easy to come into school, we encourage this method of pick-up. However, we will send cards home via kid-mail when necessary. When cards are sent home by kid-mail, the envelopes are delivered to the classroom at the end of the day, wherein the teacher will sign for receipt and instruct the child to put the envelopes directly into their backpack. From this point, the responsibility is with the child to get the envelope home and the parent to retrieve it from the child. St. Mary’s Prep, the cash card committee and teachers will not be responsible for lost cards once in the possession of the child. NOTE: Kid-Mail is not necessarily next day service. It is dependent upon when the orders are received into the cash card office, the hours the volunteers are there to fill orders, and inventory availability. 5. IT’s a TIME SAVER. You will not have to sell wrapping paper or candy 3 or 4 times a year. It is a way of fundraising for your school while you are doing the things you do for you family anyway (buying groceries and birthday presents, going to the movies, painting the deck, filling the gas tank). For last minute gifts, you will not have to run to the mall; there is a gift card for every occasion. 6. IT’s ALREADY a SUCCESS. The amount we have earned through cash cards has increased every year, and we have had successful “special project” campaigns. In 2010/2011, we were able to purchase projectors for our Smartboards with profit amounts over the required $300.00 per family. In 2011/2012 we purchased a new playground! In 2012/2013, we were able to upgrade the school’s wireless system and purchase 55 new laptops! In 2013/2014 we installed lockers in 5 classrooms! 2015/2016 profit helped with gym renovations. |
