Sixth grade students are learning about Ancient Rome.
They will also be doing a web quest on life as a Roman slave. The project
asks them to create a brochure or Power Point on one aspect of slavery.
After we have completed the chapter, we will be moving on to a new book on
Asia and the Pacific.
Seventh graders are studying about WWII. They are also doing a web quest
on the children of WWII and, particularly how the children's lives were
affected by the war. The students will read letters by five different
children, a Jewish girl, a Japanese boy, an American boy, a
Japanese-American boy, and an African- American girl. The students are
asked to do two activities one to write a reflective paper as if they were
in one of these children's situations. The other activity asks the
students to compare and contrast the lives of two of the children and to
include their own attitudes and feelings about the lives of the two
children that the students pick.
Eighth graders are concluding their study of WWII. The students have
watched documentaries on WWII, including Hiroshima and the Trial at
Nuremberg. The students will also complete a web quest on WWII. They each
picked one topic to study in depth and do a 15 min Power Point
presentation to their classmates. Topics include:
o The Holocaust
o World Leaders
o Soldiers
o Geography
o War in the Pacific
o Japanese Internment Camps
o D-Day
